Radiator needs Power flush

Power Flushing of Central Heating System

If your central heating system is not performing well, your radiators are taking longer to warm up, or you are noticing cold spots, especially on the bottom of the radiators, your system would likely benefit from a power flush.

What is power flushing?

A power flush involves completely flushing your central heating system to remove debris, sediment, sludge, and small particles that accumulate in the central heating water over time. Power flushing helps restore central heating efficiency and extends the life of central heating components such as the boiler, radiators, and radiator valves.

The most common signs that your central heating system needs a power flush are:

1. There are cold spots on the bottom of the radiator, and heat is spreading unevenly. Typically, the bottom of the radiator remains cold as sediment blocks fluid from circulating through the whole radiator.

2. The radiators are taking longer to heat up. If the pipes are partly blocked, it will take much longer for the central heating fluids to circulate to the radiators.

3. The energy bills – gas usage increase, indicating an inefficient heating system. Blockages in the central heating system make the boiler and pump work much harder.

4. “If you notice discolored water when bleeding your radiators, it indicates rust in the central heating system. This rust causes sediment and sludge to be distributed throughout the entire central heating system, eventually leading to blockages and an inefficient heating system.
